I recently discovered Dawn Barker's amazing Assigned Pooling patterns, and I kept thinking how perfect it would be to combine her pattern with Van Gogh's Starry Night, so I took my original Starry Night colorway and changed the placement of the colors to work for her Float Shawl.
I had my friend Natalie knit up the shawl, and it is absolutely gorgeous! The Float Shawl calls for 3 skeins of fingering-weight yarn.
The yarn has all the blues and greens that form the background of Starry Night for three-quarters of the skein, and the remaining one-quarter is the beautiful golden yellow of the sun and stars in the painting.
I dyed it on Sock Perfection, which is made of 80% extra-soft merino and 20% nylon, making it perfect for socks or anything else you want to be machine washable and hard-wearing but still soft.
