CARIBBEAN SUNSET on Stained Glass Sock - Hand-Dyed Yarn

COLORWAY
Caribbean Sunset was inspired by the idea of a sunset over the ocean. About one third of the skein is dyed in shades of blue and green to represent the water. The opposite third is dyed in all the colors of the sunset--orange and gold and lilac and purple and  fuchsia. The middle section represents the reflection of the sunset on the water and has deeper purples and blues. 

Each of the three sections has multiple colors in it with some overlapping between them, so this is both a Splashed and Speckled colorway and a block variegated colorway. My son Joseph came up with this colorway, and I think it's stunning! I hope you enjoy creating with it.

YARN BASE
I dyed this colorway on Stained Glass Sock, which is a soft and squishy 2-ply yarn made of 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon. The thing that makes Stained Glass Sock uniquely wonderful is that one ply is made of white wool while the other alternates between black and white, so when I dye the yarn, it looks like leaded stained glass. Each 100 gram skein has 400 yards.
