This kit includes the yarn and pattern so you can knit your own Angel Wings Ponchette.

Some of the colorway options include two skeins and some include three. Two skeins is enough for the whole poncho, which uses about 640 yards of yarn altogether. However, three skeins will give you more of a gradual gradient look like that shown in the photo.

The first colorway set looks most like the sample knit. In the pattern itself, I have suggestions for different ways of using two and three colorways.

TIMELINE
I'll be dyeing these just for you, so please allow 2 to 3 weeks for me to dye them for you.

WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE
You will receive the pattern plus either two or three skeins of sock-weight yarn depending on which yarn set you choose. You can choose from any of my smooth sock-weight yarn bases.

Yarn Base Options

You can choose from five different sock-weight yarn bases:

  • Sock Perfection - 450 yards | 80% extra-fine superwash merino + 20% nylon | 4-ply yarn
  • Twinkle Sock - 411 yards | 90% superwash merino + 10% sparkly lurex | 2-ply yarn
  • Stained Glass Sock - 400 yards | 80% superwash merino + 20% nylon | 2-ply yarn with one black ply giving a zebra effect
  • So Silky Sock - 437 yards | 50% mulberry silk + 50% superwash merino | 4-ply yarn
  • Dream Sock - 437 yards | 70% baby alpaca + 20% silk + 10% cashmere | 3-ply yarn

Please note that So Silky Sock and Dream Sock dye up in more muted colors than the other three yarn bases due to their fiber content, but they are both luxuriously soft

About the Pattern
This is an elegant poncho that’s fun to make and versatile enough to wear all year long. I love shawls too, but as a mom, small ponchos like this are my go-to cozy accessory because they stay put so nicely. They are great for air-conditioned spaces in summer, cool evenings in fall and spring, and as an extra layer of warmth in winter.

I called this design the Angel Wings Ponchette because the diamond-shaped construction makes for triangular “wings” that flow ethereally behind your arms. It can also be worn with the longer diamond points front and back since the pattern is completely symmetrical. There is beautiful Old Shale Lace front and back with a lacy picot bind-off and lots of easy knitting in between.
