The Diamond Twist Cowl works equally well with a single skein of sock-weight yarn, with two alternating colorways, or with a set of eight 20 gram mini skeins. It’s a great pattern for conversational knitting or knitting while watching a movie.
Any skein of smooth sock-weight/fingering-weight yarn will work, including my Sock Perfection, Feather Sock, Sparkly Merino Sock, Stained Glass Sock, and So Silky Sock yarn bases.
It’s appropriate for an advanced beginner and beyond. You’ll need to be able to do the following:
- Join in the Round
- Knit
- Purl
- YO - yarn over
- K2tog - knit 2 stitches together as one
I have included links to several helpful videos for joining in the round without a gap and two different bind-offs.
There are also specific instructions for how to use the pattern for eight mini skeins.
I included gauge to give an idea, but it doesn’t really matter for this pattern. I designed the cowl to be loose around the neck rather than tight, so there’s a lot of give in either direction.
I had two excellent knitters test knit this pattern and give me their feedback, which has been incorporated. You can see their photos as well as mine.
