When Russia invaded Ukraine, I had plans to dye up one of my regular spring colorways, but I could not stop thinking about the people of Ukraine and the horror that they were and still are experiencing right now.
I decided to stop everything and dye up a new colorway inspired by the beautiful flower that is their national symbol, the sunflower.
I dyed it on Sock Perfection, which is perfect for everything from socks to shawls to sweaters and beyond. It's made of extra-soft superwash merino and nylon.

YARN PAIRINGS
Sunflower would look great with Afremov's Farewell to Anger. If you have a Ukrainian flag project in mind, take a look at the new Freedom Blue colorway I just created for that purpose.
PATTERN IDEA
Lena Matthison of Softyarn Designs used this colorway to design a beautiful shawl called Sunflower of Hope. It calls for two skeins of Sunflower on any of my sock-weight yarn bases. Lena is donating 25% of the pattern proceeds to World Central Kitchen to help feed those displaced by the invasion.
