HAND-DYED SILK HANKIES/MAWATA - Colorway #16

Regular price $22.00

Quantity Available: 2

I have finally been able to source some silk hankies for the first time in years! I had so much fun dyeing these up for you. It's quite a process, but it's tons of fun.

Since each set is unrepeatable, I decided to give them numbers instead of names. This is Colorway #16.

Quantity
Each listing is for one ounce or 28 grams of hankies, and each colorway is pretty much unrepeatable. One ounce has somewhere between 30 and 40 individual hankies.

The photos include the top of the stack, the bottom of the stack, and the middle too, which is often lighter.

Uses and Tutorials
What do you do with silk hankies? You can spin them into beautiful yarn, you can knit or crochet with them without spinning them, and you can use them for nuno felting.

I have a photo tutorial on my blog for spinning them, which is so much fun. Here that is: https://www.purplelambfiberarts.com/how-to-spin-silk-hankies-or-mawata/

You can even knit or crochet with them without spinning for a beautiful gossamer fabric. Here's a tutorial from The Chili Dog on Youtube for doing that.

Also, here's a great tutorial on Ashland Bay for using these in nuno felting.

IMPORTANT: Please note that these are not silk hankies to put in your pocket or blow your nose with. These are individual silk cocoons that are made to pull apart for spinners.
