I couldn't resist naming this yarn after that amazing legendary creature that has inhabited our imaginations since ancient times. In the Medieval era, unicorns were symbols of purity and grace in art and literature.
I started with a light shade of lilac and added Burgundy Rose, Contentment, and a fantastic brownish green shade to give it some complexity. I added purple speckles to finish it off.
I dyed it on a new blend made of 70% BFL and 30% seacell. BFL is both and strong. It's great for socks and shawls. This particular BFL seems softer to me than the standard 25-ish micron. The other 30% is made of SeaCell, which is similar to silk in softness, but it's actually made from seaweed and eucalyptus. It's high in minerals and vitamins like vitamin E. It's also highly renewable.
If you would like a spindle to go with your hand-dyed top, you can find one in the Tools and Equipment section of my shop.
