UNDER THE SEA Bulky Handspun Art Yarn Made of Merino Wool, Silk, Alpaca, and Bamboo

Regular price $37.00

I made this soft handspun art yarn using one of my Under the Sea art batts for one ply, which I spun thick and thin. For the other ply, I spun some chartreuse merino wool at a DK weight. When I plied them together, I made lots of wonderful beehives using the thick and thin yarn and wrapping it around the chartreuse wool.

The predominant colors are chartreuse and several shades of blue, but there is also just a touch of lavender as well as a bit of shimmery angelina and firestar. It is made of all soft fibers including merino wool, bamboo, alpaca, and mulberry silk.

This yarn would make a very cool hat or neck warmer.

Each skein of yarn is spun or dyed by me with loving care and contains a label with the yarn facts shown above. Your yarn is wrapped in tissue paper and shipped promptly, making a great presentation if you are giving it as a gift to your favorite fiber artist--even if that happens to be you!
Unless otherwise specified, your yarn will come as a hank, which is basically a large loop. This is the best way to store yarn because there’s no tension being placed on it. Before you begin to use it, however, you will need to wind it into a ball or cake or you will end up with a tangled mess. The best way to do this is with a swift and ball winder. However, you can use the arms of a patient friend or just put your yarn over two dining chairs back to back and wind it into a ball by hand. If you don’t have a swift and you plan to use the yarn fairly soon, I would be happy to wind your yarn into a cake for you at no extra charge. Just mention it in your note to seller when you check out.
As a token of my appreciation, I would be happy to include your choice of either a sprig of fresh rosemary from my organic garden or a handmade felt ball infused with essential lavender oil with your order.  Both of these smell wonderful and are natural moth deterrents. Just let me know if you would like one and which one you would prefer in the note to seller when you check out.
