TULIP FESTIVAL Soft Handspun Yarn with Silk, Merino, and Bamboo

Regular price $33.00

This soft thick and thin chunky handspun yarn was inspired by the beautiful tulip festival that I attended in Holland, Michigan, a few years ago. These are all the colors of spring time--soft and subtle for the most part but with some bright red peaking through to make you smile and forget about winter.

I started this yarn by combining chartreuse, garden green, and lilac-colored merino with a little bright red bamboo and soft lavender silk on my drum carder. I added a bit of green firestar to make it sparkle. Next I spun the yarn thick and thin on my Lendrum spinning wheel. You'll have as much fun knitting or weaving with this as I did spinning it. The feel of all the different soft textures running through your fingers is a treat!

I finished it off by washing it gently in Dawn and rinsing it thoroughly and then hanging it unweighted to dry.

PROCESS AND PACKAGING
Each skein of yarn is spun or dyed by me with loving care and contains a label with the yarn facts shown above. Your yarn is wrapped in tissue paper and shipped promptly, making a great presentation if you are giving it as a gift to your favorite fiber artist--even if that happens to be you!

HANK OR CAKE
Unless otherwise specified, your yarn will come as a hank, which is basically a large loop. This is the best way to store yarn because there’s no tension being placed on it. Before you begin to use it, however, you will need to wind it into a ball or cake or you will end up with a tangled mess. The best way to do this is with a swift and ball winder. However, you can use the arms of a patient friend or just put your yarn over two dining chairs back to back and wind it into a ball by hand. If you don’t have a swift and you plan to use the yarn fairly soon, I would be happy to wind your yarn into a cake for you at no extra charge. Just mention it in your note to seller when you check out.

MY GIFT TO YOU
As a token of my appreciation, I would be happy to include your choice of either a sprig of fresh rosemary from my organic garden or a handmade felt ball infused with essential lavender oil with your order.  Both of these smell wonderful and are natural moth deterrents. Just let me know if you would like one and which one you would prefer in the note to seller when you check out.
