COLORWAY
The Great Black Bull was inspired by the cave painting found in Lascaux, France, in 1940. This is one of many cave paintings found there but probably the most stupendous and certainly the largest at more than 17 feet wide! The artists used the shape of the rocks themselves to make the bull look 3-dimensional. Archeologists estimate that it was made around 20,000 years ago.
This was my club colorway for January when I went as far back as possible in art history, and I've been waiting with excitement to be able to share it with you. The colors are black, deep blue verging on green, and several shades of brown. I dyed it in sections.
YARN BASE
I used my Sparkly Merino Sock base, which is made of 92% superwash merino and 8% sparkly lurex. It's a lovely base for shawls and cowls and hats.
