When I dyed this colorway, I was originally planning on creating a sunset, but then I couldn't decide whether it looked more like a sunrise or a sunset. I asked all of you on Instagram and Facebook what you thought, and it was almost even between the two.
In light of that, I decided to incorporate a song from one of my favorite musicals--Fiddler on the Roof--and name it after that. Introducing Sunrise, Sunset. Many thanks to Rachel who suggested the idea.
The song is sung by the parents at the wedding of their eldest daughter. They are wondering how the years have passed so quickly, and I know that is a sentiment that many of us have experienced.
I dyed it on Super Sport, which is a wonderfully squishy 80/20 superwash merino/nylon yarn perfect for hats, shawls, sweaters, and heavier weight socks for winter. It is a nice round 3-ply with great stitch definition.
Sunrise, Sunset on Super Sport
Splashed & Speckled Colorway
328 yards / 3.5 oz / 3 plies
80% superwash merino / 20% nylon
Care: Machine or hand wash in cool water and lay flat to dry.
Sunrise, Sunset would look great with Burgundy Rose, Sunflower, and Eggplant.
I included a couple photos of a hat I knit using Sunrise, Sunset on Buttery Soft DK to give you an idea of how it can work up.
