RESERVED FOR AMY - PURPLE IRIS on Buttery Soft DK Handdyed Yarn

Regular price $26.00

***This yarn was made especially for Amy. Please do not purchase it unless you are Amy.***

I dyed this yarn to look like the purple irises in our next-door neighbor's yard. It's amazing how many colors are in something when you look closely. Almost half the skein is dyed a rich eggplant. The other colors are soft lavender, daffodil yellow, and spring green. I lightly speckled over the yellow section with lilac and red and green. Where the yellow and lavender meet, there's this wonderful color I don't have a name for, and I usually have lots of names for colors. :-)

The yarn is made of 45% baby alpaca, 45% extra-soft 19.5 micron merino, and 10% silk, and I really can't imagine anything being softer. Please note that this is NOT a superwash yarn, so it should be washed by hand.

PROCESS AND PACKAGING
Each skein of yarn is spun or dyed by me with loving care and contains a label with the yarn facts shown above. Your yarn is wrapped in tissue paper and shipped promptly, making a great presentation if you are giving it as a gift to your favorite fiber artist--even if that happens to be you!

HANK OR CAKE
Unless otherwise specified, your yarn will come as a hank, which is basically a large loop. This is the best way to store yarn because there’s no tension being placed on it. Before you begin to use it, however, you will need to wind it into a ball or cake or you will end up with a tangled mess. The best way to do this is with a swift and ball winder. However, you can use the arms of a patient friend or just put your yarn over two dining chairs back to back and wind it into a ball by hand. If you don’t have a swift and you plan to use the yarn fairly soon, I would be happy to wind your yarn into a cake for you at no extra charge. Just mention it in your note to seller when you check out.

MY GIFT TO YOU
As a token of my appreciation, I would be happy to include your choice of either a sprig of fresh rosemary from my organic garden or a handmade felt ball infused with essential lavender oil with your order.  Both of these smell wonderful and are natural moth deterrents. Just let me know if you would like one and which one you would prefer in the note to seller when you check out.
