COLORWAY
A long time ago we took the children to a small zoo in Prescott that had free-range peacocks wandering around showing off their beautiful feathers. Ever since then, I have been wanting to make a colorway that was as true to those gorgeous feathers as I could. I decided to make it an assigned pooling colorway, and, well, I hope you love it as much as I do. I dyed the assigned pooling section across the skein, so there are two shorter sections rather than one long one.
The background color is a lichen green with quite a bit of tonal variation, and the dye colors I chose for the "eyes" go from the middle outward just like they do in the feathers. Take a look at the photos I used for inspiration.
YARN BASE
I dyed it on my Buttery Soft DK base, which is made of 45% baby alpaca, 45% extra-soft 19.5 micron merino, and 10% silk, and it really lives up to its name!
Please note that this is NOT a superwash yarn. That means it can felt with agitation and changes in temperature, so it should be washed by hand in cool water. On the other hand, it can be fulled.
