I dyed this yarn using a technique based on Ikat weaving, which is thought to have been the first decorative weaving technique in Japan, Indonesia, and several other ancient societies.
The yarn is predominantly black with short segments of lilac. When you knit with it, you get a black background with little "stars" of color.
Onyx and Amethysts on Sock Perfection
450 yards / 3.5 oz / 4 plies
80% superwash merino / 20% nylon
Care: Machine or hand wash cold and air dry
Onyx and Amethysts would look great with any or all of the other ikat yarns, including Black Butterfly and Onyx and Sapphires. It would also pair well with Lilac.
I included a small swatch I knit up using this colorway on Sock Perfection. It should give you an idea of how the colorway will work up, but keep in mind that how it looks will vary a lot depending on the pattern, the yarn base, and even the individual skein.
