Ode to the West Wind was inspired by Shelley's poem of the same name.

You can read the whole poem here, but I will include just the first and last stanzas:

O wild West Wind, thou breath of Autumn's being,
Thou, from whose unseen presence the leaves dead
Are driven, like ghosts from an enchanter fleeing....

The trumpet of a prophecy! O Wind,
If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?

As I dyed this, I was envisioning a forest covered in the first snow of the year with all the leaves flying wildly about in a strong wind. The white in the yarn represents the snow, and all of the autumn-colored speckles represent the leaves. The speckles include magenta, red, orange, yellow, and several shades of brown.

I dyed this yarn on Sock Perfection, which is made of extra-soft superwash merino and some nylon for added strength.
