MOUNTAIN SHADOW Beaded Worsted-Weight Handspun Yarn

Regular price $43.00

This is a lovely singles yarn that I spun with beads. The neat thing about this technique is that the beads are actually on the yarn rather than plied on a thinner strand with fiber wrapped around them. This way, the beads will stay where they are, but if you want to scoot them a bit so they'll be in the front of your knitting stitch, you can do that. It's rather time-consuming to add the beads this way, but I think it's worth it. There is a bead every yard to two yards, and the colors change every yard or two as well. The beads are iridescent and will look especially magnificent in bright sunshine or evening light.

This is a worsted-weight yarn and would look great as a hat or a triangular shawlette or the front panels of a vest or sweater. It's a good-sized skein at 4 ounces or 113 grams, and it has 186 yards.

Each skein of yarn is spun or dyed by me with loving care and contains a label with the yarn facts shown above. Your yarn is wrapped in tissue paper and shipped promptly, making a great presentation if you are giving it as a gift to your favorite fiber artist--even if that happens to be you!
Unless otherwise specified, your yarn will come as a hank, which is basically a large loop. This is the best way to store yarn because there’s no tension being placed on it. Before you begin to use it, however, you will need to wind it into a ball or cake or you will end up with a tangled mess. The best way to do this is with a swift and ball winder. However, you can use the arms of a patient friend or just put your yarn over two dining chairs back to back and wind it into a ball by hand. If you don’t have a swift and you plan to use the yarn fairly soon, I would be happy to wind your yarn into a cake for you at no extra charge. Just mention it in your note to seller when you check out.
As a token of my appreciation, I would be happy to include your choice of either a sprig of fresh rosemary from my organic garden or a handmade felt ball infused with essential lavender oil with your order.  Both of these smell wonderful and are natural moth deterrents. Just let me know if you would like one and which one you would prefer in the note to seller when you check out.
