Like the Field of Flowers shawl, it uses the aster stitch for assigned pooling. About three-quarters of the hank (loop of yarn) is dyed in one color, which is known as the main color. The other quarter of the hank is dyed in a contrasting color, which is known as the accent color. When you get to the accent color, you do a different stitch as specified in the pattern to showcase the accent color. In the case of this pattern, you’ll be making aster flowers whenever you get to the accent color in your working yarn.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eGauge\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eGauge is not really important here. Just aim for a fabric that is almost solid without being rigid. That said, after blocking, my gauge was 8 stitches and 9 rows per inch.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSize\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003eBefore blocking, the finished length from top to bottom along the front middle was 14 inches. After blocking it was 17 inches. Before blocking, the finished length along the increases on the side was 22 inches. After blocking, it was 32 inches. This size fits most, but you can make it larger or smaller by adding or subtracting rows of C2. It is a 4-ply yarn.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eTwinkle Fingering has 411 yards per skein, and it is made of 90% superwash merino and 10% lurex. This is my sparkly yarn base. It is a 2-ply yarn.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eFeather Fingering is made of 85% extra-fine non-superwash merino wool and 15% silk. It's a 2-ply yarn with 490 yards. If you would like to make the ponchette a little larger, the extra yardage in this yarn base will make that easier.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eSo Silky Fingering is made of 50% superwash merino and 50% mulberry silk. This luxurious yarn has 4 plies and 437 yards per skein.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eDream Fingering is made of 70% baby alpaca, 20% mulberry silk, and 10% cashmere. This luxurious yarn is a great option for those who are sensitive to sheep's wool.
