DESCRIPTION
"...Lady Eowyn wore a great blue mantle of the colour of deep summer-night, and it was set with silver stars about hem and throat."
---The Return of the King by Tolkien

This is a colorway I have been wanting to dye for a long time. I dyed it using my Ikat method. First I dyed the majority of the skein a soft tonal navy color, and then I added thin stripes of alternating silver and gold. The gold was artistic license on my part, but I thought it was a reasonable addition to the description of the cloak given to Eowyn by  Faramir.

If you knit or crochet with it, you'll get little dots or stars of gold and silver in the field of dark blue. If you weave with it, you'll get short stripes of gold and silver.

I dyed it on my Dream Sock yarn base, which may be the absolute softest thing ever. Think of stroking a purring kitten or soft bunny and you'll have an idea of how soft this yarn is. It's made of baby alpaca, silk, and cashmere. Since there's no wool, it may work for someone who is sensitive to wool too.

Please be aware that Dream Sock is NOT a superwash yarn so it can felt. Please wash by hand in cold water and allow it to air dry.

The yarn is priced per skein.

PROCESS AND PACKAGING
Each skein of yarn is spun or dyed by me with loving care and contains a label with the yarn facts shown above. Your yarn is wrapped in tissue paper and shipped promptly, making a great presentation if you are giving it as a gift to your favorite fiber artist--even if that happens to be you!

HANK OR CAKE
Unless otherwise specified, your yarn will come as a hank, which is basically a large loop. This is the best way to store yarn because there’s no tension being placed on it. Before you begin to use it, however, you will need to wind it into a ball or cake or you will end up with a tangled mess. The best way to do this is with a swift and ball winder. However, you can use the arms of a patient friend or just put your yarn over two dining chairs back to back and wind it into a ball by hand. If you don’t have a swift and you plan to use the yarn fairly soon, I would be happy to wind your yarn into a cake for you at no extra charge. Just mention it in your note to seller when you check out.

MY GIFT TO YOU
As a token of my appreciation, I would be happy to include your choice of either a sprig of fresh rosemary from my organic garden or a handmade felt ball infused with essential lavender oil with your order.  Both of these smell wonderful and are natural moth deterrents. Just let me know if you would like one and which one you would prefer in the note to seller when you check out.
