CLEOPATRA Indie-Dyed Sock-Weight Yarn on Sparkly Merino Sock

Regular price $27.00

I dyed this sparkly sock yarn using gold, a rich royal purple, my Irish moss color, and a rich red. Several more colors came about as a result of the areas where different colors mixed including pink, magenta, and bronze. This is a really gorgeous color combination!

All of this is on a sock or fingering weight yarn base made of soft superwash merino with 8% sparkly lurex--enough lurex to really sparkle without being scratchy. If you enlarge the pictures, the sparkle shows really well just as it does in real life.

I played around with several different names, but when my daughter suggested Cleopatra, I knew that was perfect for this yarn.

This yarn would make a beautiful shawl or cowl or sweater. The colors are both joyful and elegant at the same time. This is dyed using a method I call Splashed and Speckled. Though I used the same dyes for each skein, no two skeins will ever be exactly the same, which is part of the fun and adventure of using handdyed yarn in my opinion.

The yarn is priced per skein.

PROCESS AND PACKAGING
Each skein of yarn is spun or dyed by me with loving care and contains a label with the yarn facts shown above. Your yarn is wrapped in tissue paper and shipped promptly, making a great presentation if you are giving it as a gift to your favorite fiber artist--even if that happens to be you!

HANK OR CAKE
Unless otherwise specified, your yarn will come as a hank, which is basically a large loop. This is the best way to store yarn because there’s no tension being placed on it. Before you begin to use it, however, you will need to wind it into a ball or cake or you will end up with a tangled mess. The best way to do this is with a swift and ball winder. However, you can use the arms of a patient friend or just put your yarn over two dining chairs back to back and wind it into a ball by hand. If you don’t have a swift and you plan to use the yarn fairly soon, I would be happy to wind your yarn into a cake for you at no extra charge. Just mention it in your note to seller when you check out.

MY GIFT TO YOU
As a token of my appreciation, I would be happy to include your choice of either a sprig of fresh rosemary from my organic garden or a handmade felt ball infused with essential lavender oil with your order.  Both of these smell wonderful and are natural moth deterrents. Just let me know if you would like one and which one you would prefer in the note to seller when you check out.

Happy fiber artistry!
