This colorway was inspired by a stained glass window my mom made and that I have. I basically grew up in my parents' downtown stained glass shop. I'd go there every day after school and spend most days in the summer there. I knew the lady who ran the drug store a few doors down and the folks who ran the fantastic hamburger joint a few doors in the other direction.
I dyed Carousel Horse in stripes of red, fuchsia, lilac, blue, eggplant, and yellow. Over all that I laid on thin stripes of black to emulate the stained glass window. This is a repeating colorway.
This top contains 50% tussah silk and 50% baby alpaca top. It's wonderfully soft, and the tussah silk adds shine and strength. The undyed alpaca is a light golden brown, which gives the dyed top a wonderfully warm color.
While it's possible to felt alpaca with some effort, the tussah silk won't felt, so I would recommend using this top to spin but not to felt by itself.
If you would like a spindle to go with your hand-dyed top, you can find them in the Tools and Equipment section of my shop.
