ARWEN Worsted-Weight Handspun Yarn

Regular price $32.00

Imagine a lady who is steadfast in love, warm, kind, and full of wisdom, and you have Arwen, the elf-maiden betrothed to Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings. I think the colors in this yarn embody her character.

I usually dye and then spin, but this time around I carded white merino with eggplant angelina and then dyed it in a pot using a very spontaneous method that combined a bit of this and bit of that and a speckle of this color and that color that is quite different from my usual measured and analytical (but still very fun) method of dyeing yarn. There are lots of colors and soft speckles on this thick and thin worsted-weight yarn. The sparkle from the angelina is visible but subtle.

PROCESS AND PACKAGING
Each skein of yarn is spun or dyed by me with loving care and contains a label with the yarn facts shown above. Your yarn is wrapped in tissue paper and shipped promptly, making a great presentation if you are giving it as a gift to your favorite fiber artist--even if that happens to be you!

HANK OR CAKE
Unless otherwise specified, your yarn will come as a hank, which is basically a large loop. This is the best way to store yarn because there’s no tension being placed on it. Before you begin to use it, however, you will need to wind it into a ball or cake or you will end up with a tangled mess. The best way to do this is with a swift and ball winder. However, you can use the arms of a patient friend or just put your yarn over two dining chairs back to back and wind it into a ball by hand. If you don’t have a swift and you plan to use the yarn fairly soon, I would be happy to wind your yarn into a cake for you at no extra charge. Just mention it in your note to seller when you check out.

MY GIFT TO YOU
As a token of my appreciation, I would be happy to include your choice of either a sprig of fresh rosemary from my organic garden or a handmade felt ball infused with essential lavender oil with your order.  Both of these smell wonderful and are natural moth deterrents. Just let me know if you would like one and which one you would prefer in the note to seller when you check out.

Happy fiber artistry!
