This yarn was inspired by Sara Crewe, the main character in the wonderful children's classic, A Little Princess. In spite of her own deep sorrow and hardship, she manages to bring joy to those around her. This colorway is dedicated to all who have managed to do the same in spite of--or perhaps in light of--their own sorrow.
The yarn contains several shades of moody blues and mournful violets as well as some more cheerful burgundy rose. I dyed this yarn using my Splashed and Speckled method, which means each skein contains the same colors but in different places, making each one unique.
I dyed this colorway on Stained Glass Sock, which is a smooth, soft 2-ply yarn made of 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon. The thing that makes Stained Glass Sock uniquely wonderful is that one ply is made of white wool while the other alternates between black and white, so when I dye the yarn, it looks like leaded stained glass. Each 100 gram skein has 400 yards.
