2025 YARN ADVENT CALENDAR PREORDER - The Colors of Serenity

I am so excited to bring you this year's yarn Advent calendar! 

THEME
This year I wanted to create a peaceful oasis of color for your Advent calendar, so I chose this beautiful photo of the Caribbean Sea for the color inspiration. I figured that when it comes time to use the Advent calendar, the thought of a sunny warm Caribbean beach and all the serenity that comes with it should be just about perfect!

I will be dyeing up a gradient set of semi-solid/tonal colorways based on the photo. The colors will be the calm, peaceful turquoise and blues of the sea and sky as well as the neutrals of the pier and gazebo. 

WHAT YOUR YARN ADVENT CALENDAR INCLUDES
Each set will include twenty-five 20 gram mini skeins wrapped in their own individual boxes. The idea is to open one box each day beginning on December 1st and ending on Christmas Day. This is a no-guilt kit. If it takes longer or if you decide to start early, that's okay. It just means more time to enjoy the creative process. 

YARN BASES
This year I have two different fingering-weight options as well as a heavier weight option. Here are the three different yarn bases you can choose from:

1. Silken Sock - This is a 2-ply yarn made of 80% superwash merino and 20% mulberry silk. It's very soft and lovely and has 80 yards per 20 gram skein. The total yardage for all 25 mini skeins will be 2000 yards.
2. Stained Glass Sock - Stained Glass Sock has one white ply and one ply that alternates every couple feet between black and white, giving that fabulous Zebra effect. It's made of 100% superwash merino, and it has 80 yards per 20 gram skein. The total yardage for all 25 mini skeins will be 2000 yards.
3. Wonderful Worsted - This is a nice round 4-ply yarn made of 100% superwash merino with 43 yards per 20 gram skein. I would consider this a light worsted-weight yarn. It should work just fine for both DK-weight patterns and worsted-weight patterns. The total yardage for all 25 mini skeins will be 1075 yards.

FULL-SIZED SKEIN OPTION
Some Advent calendar patterns call for a full-sized skein to go with the minis, so I'm offering the option of a full-sized skein in your choice of Espresso or Fawn. Espresso is a dark brown, and Fawn is a light beige. Either colorway would look great with all the minis. The full-sized skein will come on the same yarn base as your mini skeins.

SURI LACE CLOUD OPTION
You can also choose to add undyed Suri Lace Cloud to hold double with the minis. Suri Lace Cloud is made of 65% suri alpaca and 35% silk. It's similar to mohair but without the itchiness. It's a laceweight yarn with 437 yards per 50 gram skein, so 3 skeins will be enough to hold double with the Wonderful Worsted mini skein option while 5 skeins will be enough for the two sock-weight yarn bases.

PATTERN IDEAS
Since I'm offering multiple yarn weights this year, I decided to include a list of pattern possibilities rather than a single pattern. The list will include pattern ideas for both knitting and crochet  I'll include the list with your Advent calendar, but in the meantime, I have a sock-weight bundle and a DK/worsted-weight bundle on Ravelry available to see now.

TIMELINE
This is a preorder. I will be dyeing the yarn this summer and packaging it in time to ship on or before November 10th. I can ship these anywhere within the US and to Canada, but I can't guarantee the arrival date for Canada due to the vagaries of Customs.
