SMAUG'S TREASURE on Sparkly Merino Sock Yarn

Regular price $27.00

Quantity Available: 2

I dyed this variegated and speckled yarn using a special technique known as glazing, which involves adding multiple layers of dye so the yarn practically glows. The colors are gold, rose, lavender, spring green, and a bit of magenta and dark blue--all the colors of the jewels in Smaug's lair in The Lonely Mountain from The Hobbit.

All of this is on my Sparkly Merino Fingering-Weight yarn base, which is made of 92% merino wool and 8% sparkly lurex.

The last photo shows a really neat set of 4 skeins. From left to right there's La Bohème, Smaug's Treasure, November in my Soul, and Nebula.

Each skein of yarn is spun or dyed by me with loving care and contains a label with the yarn facts shown above. Your yarn is wrapped in tissue paper and shipped promptly, making a great presentation if you are giving it as a gift to your favorite fiber artist--even if that happens to be you!
Unless otherwise specified, your yarn will come as a hank, which is basically a large loop. This is the best way to store yarn because there’s no tension being placed on it. Before you begin to use it, however, you will need to wind it into a ball or cake or you will end up with a tangled mess. The best way to do this is with a swift and ball winder. However, you can use the arms of a patient friend or just put your yarn over two dining chairs back to back and wind it into a ball by hand. If you don’t have a swift and you plan to use the yarn fairly soon, I would be happy to wind your yarn into a cake for you at no extra charge. Just mention it in your note to seller when you check out.
As a token of my appreciation, I would be happy to include your choice of either a sprig of fresh rosemary from my organic garden or a handmade felt ball infused with essential lavender oil with your order.  Both of these smell wonderful and are natural moth deterrents. Just let me know if you would like one and which one you would prefer in the note to seller when you check out.

Happy fiber artistry!
