MONET'S CATHEDRAL Hand-Dyed Yarn on Stained Glass Sock

Regular price $28.00

This colorway was inspired by one of my favorite paintings by Monet: "The Portal of Rouen Cathedral in Morning Light." Here's a link to the painting. He spent 2 years painting the same cathedral at different times of day, and some have called it the ultimate series in impressionism.

The colors include dark blue, medium blue, soft lilac, eggplant, and a bit of chartreuse with a generous amount of speckles.

I dyed this colorway on Stained Glass Sock, which is a soft and squishy 2-ply yarn made of 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon. The thing that makes Stained Glass Sock uniquely wonderful is that one ply is made of white wool while the other alternates between black and white, so when I dye the yarn, it looks like leaded stained glass. Each 100 gram skein has 400 yards.

SAMPLE KNIT
The last few photos show a lovely 1-skein shawl I knit using this yarn. It's called Stormy Sky, and the pattern is by Life is Cozy. I think that batch of yarn was a little more purple and a little less blue compared with the latest batch, but it gives you an idea of how Stained Glass Sock can work up.
