“And you, Ring-bearer,’ she said, turning to Frodo. ‘I come to you last who are not last in my thoughts. For you I have prepared this.’ She held up a small crystal phial: it glittered as she moved it, and rays of white light sprang from her hand. ‘In this phial,’ she said, ‘is caught the light of Eärendil’s star, set amid the waters of my fountain. It will shine still brighter when night is about you. May it be a light to you in dark places, when all other lights go out. Remember Galadriel and her Mirror!’

--The Two Towers by J. R. R. Tolkien

I have been mulling over this quote from The Two Towers for a few weeks, trying to think of a way to use Galadriel's light as inspiration for a new yarn colorway. I chose to create a background of black for the dark places in which the phial is eventually used, and I decided to use all the ROYGBIV colors for the white light, because white light is made from all the colors and because I thought it would make really lovely yarn.

This decision actually caused quite a lot of controversy within my household with half of my family saying it made perfect sense and the other half saying that it the white light needed to be simply white.

I dyed this yarn on Wonderful Worsted, which is a squishy and round 4-ply yarn made of 100% superwash merino. It's great for sweaters, shawls, hats, and more.
