I created six different colorways based on six of the many amazing and complex characters in Victor Hugo's masterpiece, Les Misérables.
All the colorways are made to work together as a fade in the following order: Javert, Bishop Myriel, Marius, Cosette, Eponine, and Jean Valjean. Of course, you can certainly choose just one or just a few colorways if you like.
Beware that there are many spoilers in the descriptions of each character, so if you haven't read or at least seen Les Misérables, please do, and then come back for the yarn. ;-)
As I was creating each colorway for these complex characters, I kept thinking of that fabulous quote from Solzhenitsyn:
If only it were all so simple! If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?
Solzhenitsyn wrote that about 80 years after Hugo wrote Les Misérables, but I believe Hugo would agree, don't you?
