Eowyn's Mantle was inspired by Eowyn, the niece of the king of Rohan in The Lord of the Rings. The mantle was given to her for her wedding by her betrothed and is described as "a great blue mantle of the colour of deep summer-night, and it was set with silver stars about hem and throat." (The Return of the King)
The colors are simpler than most--deep blue and white and silver and gold. The fibers include a couple different kinds of wool, silk, alpaca, and just a touch of sparkle.
This is my largest fiber painting to date. The dimensions are 27 inches wide by 21 inches high, and the weight is 6 pounds, 8 ounces.
