ARIZONA SUNRISE Splashed & Speckled - Dyed to Order

Regular price $25.00

Quantity Available: 0

Arizona may be known for its beautiful sunsets, but our house faces east, so I get to watch a beautiful, brilliant sunrise most mornings. I wish I could share the sunrise, but at least I can share the yarn! That sunrise was the inspiration for this lovely colorway.

The colors are coral red, orange, peach, and yellow, and all of them are generously speckled with magenta and coral red. This would make a beautiful shawl or cowl or hat and mitten set.

This version of Arizona Sunrise was dyed using my Splashed & Speckled method, which means the colors are placed in a way that is unlikely to pool.

I also have a variegated version of the same colorway with blocks of color. The two would be fantastic together!

The photos show Arizona Sunrise dyed on my So Silky Sock base. Different bases may show the colors a little bit more softly or a little bit brighter. You can learn more about each of the bases I offer below.

The yarn is priced per skein.

YARN PAIRINGS
This yarn would look lovely with Cherries Jubilee or Peachy Keen. It would be fabulous with the variegated version of Arizona Sunrise as well.

QUANTITY AVAILABLE
Since this listing is for yarn dyed to order, the quantity available is shown as zero because I don't have it in stock until I dye it for you. You can still place an order for as many as you would like.

I strongly recommend ordering as many as you will need for your project because my colorways do vary a bit from one dye batch to the next.

TURNAROUND TIME
You can expect me to dye and ship your order within 2-3 weeks once you have placed your order. I will email you to keep you informed of my progress.

YARN BASES
Here are the yarn bases you can choose from and some information about each one:

Sparkly Merino Sock - This 4-ply yarn is made of 92% superwash merino and 8% lurex. There's enough lurex to really sparkle without compromising the softness of the merino. The neat thing about lurex is that the sparkle shows even more on darker colorways. This comes in extra-large 115 gram or 4-ounce skeins with a total of 409 yards, so it's on the heavier side of fingering weight. Sparkly Merino Sock tends to dye up brightly. This can be hand washed or washed on a gentle cycle in the washing machine on cold. It should be laid flat to dry.

So Silky Sock - This yarn is lusciously soft! It's a 4-ply made of 50% mulberry silk and 50% superwash merino. It comes in 3.5 ounce or 100 gram skeins with a total of 438 yards per skein. So Silky Sock tends to dye up fairly softly. I recommend washing it by hand in cold water because of the silk content, though there's nothing that will felt in this yarn.

Sock Perfection - I have finally found the perfect yarn base for actual socks! It is a light fingering weight that combines 80% extra-fine 19.5 micron superwash merino with 20% nylon. It's a good solid 4-ply yarn that comes in 100 gram skeins with 450 yards per skein. It can be machine washed on cold and air dried. It tends to take the dye rather brightly.

Donegal SockDonegal Sock is a wonderful tweed fingering-weight yarn made of 85% superwash merino and 15% nylon nebs that don't take dye. This is a 2-ply yarn with 438 yards per 100 gram skein. This can be machine-washed, though I think it would be better to hand-wash this one. It should be air-dried. Donegal Sock takes the dye fairly brightly.

Buttery Soft DK - This is a wonderfully soft 2-ply DK base with great stitch definition. It's made of 45% extra-fine merino (non-superwash), 45% baby alpaca, and 10% silk. It is a dream to work with! Each 100 gram skein contains 245 yards. This should be washed by hand in cold water and dried flat. Buttery Soft DK dyes up softly.
