A LITTLE PRINCESS Indie-Dyed Yarn on Donegal Sock

Regular price $26.00

Quantity Available: 2

This yarn was inspired by Sara Crewe, the main character in the wonderful children's classic, A Little Princess. In spite of her own deep sorrow and hardship, she manages to bring joy to those around her. This colorway is dedicated to all who have managed to do the same in spite of--or perhaps in light of--their own sorrow.

The yarn contains several shades of moody blues and mournful violets but also has sections of a bright, cheerful fuchsia as well. I dyed this yarn using my Splashed and Speckled method, which means each skein contains the same colors but in different places, making each one unique.

The yarn is priced per skein.

I dyed it on my new Donegal Sock base, which is made of 85% superwash merino and 15% yarn nebs in black, brown, and gray that retain their original colors when dyed, so it makes a great tweed fabric when it's knit, crocheted, or woven.

While this is a superwash yarn and therefore could be machine washed, I think it will last longer and look better if it is hand-washed because of the nebs.

PROCESS AND PACKAGING
Each skein of yarn is spun or dyed by me with loving care and contains a label with the yarn facts shown above. Your yarn is wrapped in tissue paper and shipped promptly, making a great presentation if you are giving it as a gift to your favorite fiber artist--even if that happens to be you!

HANK OR CAKE
Unless otherwise specified, your yarn will come as a hank, which is basically a large loop. This is the best way to store yarn because there’s no tension being placed on it. Before you begin to use it, however, you will need to wind it into a ball or cake or you will end up with a tangled mess. The best way to do this is with a swift and ball winder. However, you can use the arms of a patient friend or just put your yarn over two dining chairs back to back and wind it into a ball by hand. If you don’t have a swift and you plan to use the yarn fairly soon, I would be happy to wind your yarn into a cake for you at no extra charge. Just mention it in your note to seller when you check out.

MY GIFT TO YOU
As a token of my appreciation, I would be happy to include your choice of either a sprig of fresh rosemary from my organic garden or a handmade felt ball infused with essential lavender oil with your order.  Both of these smell wonderful and are natural moth deterrents. Just let me know if you would like one and which one you would prefer in the note to seller when you check out.
