This yarn was inspired by the main character in Sigrid Undset's wonderful trilogy. The novels are set in late medieval Norway. The main character, Kristin, makes a terrible mistake but goes on to do much good in spite of it.
Like the character of Kristin, the yarn has a pleasing complexity to it. I dyed it using rose, peach, and lavender on a background of gray. I used my Splashed and Speckled method to dye these. That means each skein has the same colors in approximately the same proportion, but the placement of each color will be a little different on each one. The great thing about that is it means the chances of the yarn pooling are pretty minimal.
I dyed Kristin Lavransdatter on my Buttery Soft DK yarn base, which is made of 45% baby alpaca, 45% extra-soft merino, and 10% silk. This is so incredibly soft!
Please note that this is NOT a superwash yarn.
I do also have this available on my Sparkly Merino Sock yarn.

Kristin Lavransdatter would look lovely with Impatiens, Epitome, Galadriel's Gift, or Highland Heather. It's actually quite similar to Highland Heather.
PROCESS AND PACKAGING
Each skein of yarn is spun or dyed by me with loving care and contains a label with the yarn facts shown above. Your yarn is wrapped in tissue paper and shipped promptly, making a great presentation if you are giving it as a gift to your favorite fiber artist--even if that happens to be you!
Unless otherwise specified, your yarn will come as a hank, which is basically a large loop. This is the best way to store yarn because there’s no tension being placed on it. Before you begin to use it, however, you will need to wind it into a ball or cake or you will end up with a tangled mess. The best way to do this is with a swift and ball winder. However, you can use the arms of a patient friend or just put your yarn over two dining chairs back to back and wind it into a ball by hand. If you don’t have a swift and you plan to use the yarn fairly soon, I would be happy to wind your yarn into a cake for you at no extra charge. Just mention it in your note to seller when you check out.
As a token of my appreciation, I would be happy to include your choice of either a sprig of fresh rosemary from my organic garden or a handmade felt ball infused with essential lavender oil with your order. Both of these smell wonderful and are natural moth deterrents. Just let me know if you would like one and which one you would prefer in the note to seller when you check out.
