Visit to Lyme was inspired by and named after a beautiful and important portion of Jane Austen's Persuasion. Anne Elliot, Captain Wentworth, and several others go for a visit to the seaside at Lyme. It is a turning point in the novel. In addition to the book (of course), the 1995 BBC adaptation is fantastic, including the portion that provided the inspiration for this colorway.
This Splashed and Speckled colorway includes several shades of blues and greens as well as a little bit of white.
I dyed it on my Buttery Soft DK base, which is made of 45% baby alpaca, 45% extra-soft 19.5 micron merino, and 10% silk, and it really lives up to its name!Like most, this colorway is a little more muted on Buttery Soft DK than on many of my other yarn bases due to the alpaca and silk content.
Please note that this is NOT a superwash yarn. That means it can felt with agitation and changes in temperature, so it should be washed by hand in cool water. On the other hand, it can be fulled.
