THE WINEDARK SEA on Sparkly Merino Sock

Regular price $28.00

This yarn was inspired by a really intriguing phrase from Homer's Odyssey. Apparently the ancient Greeks had no name or concept for the color blue. While pondering the idea for this colorway, a friend mentioned that on a recent trip to Greece, she noticed burgundy hues in the sea while aboard a sailboat.

The colorway is a very dark red with purple tones as well.

I dyed it on my Sparkly Merino Sock base, which is made of 92% superwash merino and 8% sparkly lurex. It's a lovely base for shawls and cowls and hats.

YARN SWATCH
I included a hat I knit up using this colorway on Wonderful Worsted. It should give you an idea of how the colorway will work up, but keep in mind that how it looks will vary a lot depending on the pattern, the yarn base, and even the individual skein.
