VAN GOGH Splashed and Speckled Handdyed So Silky Sock-Weight Yarn

Regular price $29.00

Quantity Available: 4

This colorway was inspired by Van Gogh's expressionist painting, "Irises." The colors are rich and unique. They include mint green, lavender, dark blue, chartreuse, and a blue-green color that isn't quite turquoise and isn't quite teal.

Here's a link to the actual painting at the Getty museum.

I originally dyed this same colorway as a variegated yarn with each color in separate sections. This one, however, was dyed using my Splashed and Speckled method where the colors are mixed together in a way that is unique for each skein.

I dyed this on what is perhaps my favorite millspun base. It's amazingly soft, which should come as no surprise since it's made of 50% mulberry silk and 50% superwash merino!

The yarn is priced per skein.

This yarn would go well with Thistle, Annunciation Blue, or Margarita--all tonal yarns dyed on this same wonderful sock-weight base. It would also go well with Mary Cassatt and with the variegated version of Van Gogh. The last photo shows both versions of Van Gogh together.

Each skein of yarn is spun or dyed by me with loving care and contains a label with the yarn facts shown above. Your yarn is wrapped in tissue paper and shipped promptly, making a great presentation if you are giving it as a gift to your favorite fiber artist--even if that happens to be you!

Unless otherwise specified, your yarn will come as a hank, which is basically a large loop. This is the best way to store yarn because there’s no tension being placed on it. Before you begin to use it, however, you will need to wind it into a ball or cake or you will end up with a tangled mess. The best way to do this is with a swift and ball winder. However, you can use the arms of a patient friend or just put your yarn over two dining chairs back to back and wind it into a ball by hand. If you don’t have a swift and you plan to use the yarn fairly soon, I would be happy to wind your yarn into a cake for you at no extra charge. Just mention it in your note to seller when you check out.
As a token of my appreciation, I would be happy to include your choice of either a sprig of fresh rosemary from my organic garden or a handmade felt ball infused with essential lavender oil with your order.  Both of these smell wonderful and are natural moth deterrents. Just let me know if you would like one and which one you would prefer in the note to seller when you check out.
