GALADRIEL'S GIFT on Sparkly Merino Sock

Regular price $28.00

Quantity Available: 2

I love this colorway! It's heavily speckled and will be an adventure to knit with every stitch different.

The colors are sky blue, bright blue, spring green, lavender, a bit of yellow, a bit of chartreuse, and an abundance of blue and purple speckles.

As for the name, the colors remind me of a stunningly beautiful garden, and that made me think of the box of soil and seeds that Galadriel gave Sam in The Lord of the Rings which he used to replenish the Shire.

I dyed it on Sparkly Merino Sock, which has just enough sparkle to really count without being gaudy.

YARN SWATCH
I included two photos that show a hat I knit up in this colorway using Wonderful Worsted. It should give you an idea of how the colorway will work up, but keep in mind that how it looks will vary a lot depending on the pattern, the yarn base, and even the individual skein.

What a gift!

I recently purchased a skein of Ghaladriel's Gift as part of a color combo designed to evoke the ocean. Ms. Hanson knocked it out of the park. I was a scuba diver in my younger days and Ghaladriel's Gift reminds of diving down into the waters around the British Virgin Islands and getting to the depth where the blue from above and the green below both sparkle in the sunlight (great memories!). It's a subtle yarn, but as part of a combo like Ms. Hanson put together - GG, Ocean Fantasy, Turquoise, Mermaid Tail, and Sky Blue -- it makes a statement. If I weren't going to use it as part of an Ocean Fantasy shawl, I would use multiple skeins for a lovely evening shawl.
